The Blizzard

February 15, 2007

Yup we made it. No accidents, fires, burials, amputations, exorcisms… We made it through the whole blizzard with nary a scratch. Well Zach got snow down his neck and Alex bumped his head but other than that. Well My mother lost power for a morning, but other than that. Well we did have a gas leak an now can’t use our dryer but other than that. Actually that was about it. I had a couple of new ads and a couple of renewals so I did make some money. Business is still a little slow but things look pomising with several companies. I just wish the wheels of fate would turn a little faster and some of my prospects would just buy fo God’s sake. Patience Vlad, patience.

OK here’s the thing, this website, www.AffordableSearch.com really is important. No kidding. If we could get a lot of companies to sign on we could really help a lot of people looking for affordable housing. That’s a good thing. We just need some buzz, and some visionary property managers to think, hey this could work.

I’m doing the best I can to make things happen. Phone calls, postings on Craigslist, posting our press release on various sites. I’m really, really trying.

Meanwhile, everything is covered in snow, and it doesn’t look like it’s going away anytime soon. I’m thinking all I need is a really good hair dryer and an extension cord….

Just sitting around

February 7, 2007

This really is as boring as it gets. Alex is doing his homework. Zach is wandering around looking for something to do. The world is on hold. I’m gonna ask Zach if he wants to play battleship. This really isn’t what I imagined in my 20’s. On the other hand, I am spending time with my boys. Gotta go sink some ships…

Still around

February 1, 2007

Hi,

I’m still around…really. I just haven’t felt like posting anything in a while. I’m taking the kids to some knd of science night at the school tonight. I think maybe we’ll go to Pizza Hut for dinner beforehand. Only if Alex can finish his homework quickly. He has a habit of delaying, plaing with the cat, goofing around with some toy he finds after a year of being MIA. They toy, not Alex.

I’m on my laptop right now. The cat is on the coffee table activey trying to knock over my cup of water. Man, is she annoying.  I have to take a deep breath and calm down. The other day a prospect called me from Pittsburgh. It was after the boys got home. I brought the phone into the “living room,” which is really my wife’s “clean room” where we don’t actuall do any living, when Zach comes wandering in screaming his face off because Alex just hit him or something. Meanwhile, ‘m having an actual business call. I was calm asked Zach if he could hold on for a while, but I think the woman I was speaking with was still put off.

I yelled at the boys and reminded them how they should behave when I am on the phone. I just hope the woman calls back. I was flustered and didn’t get her name. I do have her number though. I think I’ll call her now.

If anyone is actually out there reading this, tell me how you would handle a situation like that. My wife wanted me to take away Game Cube for a week What would you do?
